A three-week studio experience for rising 5th–7th grade girls designed for young artists who are ready for deeper creative exploration.
This immersive art experience blends pottery, painting, drawing, hands-on crafts, and creative writing with mindfulness practices in a calm, welcoming studio environment—giving girls the time and space to develop their creative voice and connect with each other.

Daily Rhythm
Each day follows a consistent, grounding structure designed to help artists feel settled, supported, and creatively engaged.
Morning Mindfulness: A gentle start to the day with journaling, art invitation, reflection, light movement, or creative prompts.
Weekly Focused Art Practice: Dedicated studio time exploring the main medium of the week (including pottery, painting, drawing, and mixed media)
Creative writing, storytelling, and illustrating.
Crafternoons: Relaxed, hands-on crafts after lunch—playful creative time to end the day feeling accomplished and joyful.
Weekly Focus
Week 1: Clay & Creative Writing
Artists explore handbuilding pottery techniques while beginning creative writing inspired by storytelling, reflection, and imagination. This week focuses on experimentation, idea generation, and comfort with materials.
Week 2: Painting & Story Planning
Artists dive into mixed media painting, working on a large canvas from conception to creation. Alongside painting, artists begin thumbnail sketches and planning for their personal storybooks.
Week 3: Finishing & Reflection
Artists glaze their pottery pieces, refine sketching and drawing skills, and continue working on dummy book creation, bringing together artwork and writing into a cohesive final project and a final exhibit on July 30th.
Creative Girl Camp is a great fit if your child:
- Enjoys art, making, and creative expression
- Is curious, thoughtful, or imaginative
- Is ready for longer projects and deeper focus
- Would benefit from a supportive, creative community
This camp may not be the best fit if your child:
- Prefers fast-paced or highly physical camps
- Is looking for a one-day or drop-in experience
- Is outside the rising 5th–7th grade age range

About the Studio
Creative Girl Camp takes place at Essem Art Studio, a community-centered art studio focused on joyful, hands-on creative experiences for young artists. The studio is a warm, encouraging space where curiosity is celebrated and creativity can thrive.
